Dr. Betsy Arnold, DVM

Betsy Arnold has been a lifelong cat lover. She grew up in Pleasantville, New York and started breeding and showing Siamese with her parents under the CFA Cattery name "Shera Len" in high school. She graduated from Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York in 1972 and then attended SUNY Albany where she earned her BS in Biology in 1975. She then earned her Masters (1979) and DVM from Cornell University in 1980. This was followed by an internship in small animal medicine and surgery from 1980 to 1981 at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia.

Betsy moved to Rochester in 1981 joining the Pittsford Animal Hospital group (Now Monroe Veterinary Associates) with her principal hospital the Irondequiot Animal Hospital. In 1989 she started Caring For Cats Veterinary Hospital. The first location was on English Road and in 1995 she built the current hospital on Island Cottage Road.

She has continued her active involvement in the cat fancy and has bred many winning show cats (both Siamese and Abyssinian) and been involved with all aspects of cat show production and the Cat Fanciers Association.

Betsy has been honored with many awards including the Greece Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award, the Humane Society Veterinarian of the Year, the Winn Feline Foundation Service Award for her many years of service and from the Maine Coon Breed Council for her Maine Coon Rescue. She is past president of the Genesee Valley Veterinary Medical Association and current president of the Genesee Cat Club and the National Siamese Cat Club. She has given lectures at Cornell University and at the Western States Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas.

Betsy also enjoys walking, skiing and travelling.

Dr. Debra L. Hartman, DVM

Dr. Hartman hails from Ionia Michigan, where she grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, including cats, dogs, horses and a variety of livestock. Life on the farm in a rural setting sparked her interest in caring for domestic pets as well as wildlife. Dr. Hartman attended Michigan State University, where she completed both Bachelors and Doctorate degrees in Veterinary Medicine.

After graduation, Dr. Hartman relocated to Rochester to pursue her career as a small animal veterinarian. Rochester has served as home for 28 years and she currently lives in Greece with her husband, two cats, one dog, pet ducks, fish, turtles and frogs.

Dr. Hartman is member of the Genesee Valley Veterinary Association, The American Veterinary Medical Association, The Sierra Club, and The Audubon society.

When not caring for animals, she enjoys waterskiing, volleyball, biking, both cross-country and downhill skiing and horticulture. Enjoying the outdoors and nature provides her with opportunities to help wildlife as well.
